The business of remote working is evolving at an ever-growing rate. Businesses of all sizes are adjusting to the reality of working from home, and they’re discovering that it’s beneficial to their company as well as their employees. A few studies have revealed that companies with a firm policy of remote work achieve greater levels in performance indicators.

The term "remote working" is used to describe any arrangement in which an employee or team is not required to report to the same location every day. That means they may work in their homes or coworking spaces, cafes or even in a van along the river.

Some teams are completely remote. This is usually the result of a culture that encourages trust and communication among team members. Sometimes, a group may have a mix between permanent and flexible remote employees. Some of these employees will be in the office at certain times, whereas others work from home.

Many jobs provide a high degree of remote work, including cottage industry owners and food service professionals coders, e-commerce and other workers. It’s vital to plan ahead for the possibility of shut-downs and emergency situations like COVID-19. This could mean investing in cybersecurity or having a backup for all data. It could also include making sure employees have the tools needed to work at home, which could include things like a virtual Private Network (VPN) and HIPAA-compliant software for managing customer relations.
